The article evaluates the foreign policy of the Russian Federation from the point of view of comparing it with the global trends that have developed in recent decades. It is shown that the main problem of modern international relations has become the actual interception by the United States and NATO of the right of the United Nations to use force against third countries. This process began in the 1960s-80s and was successfully completed by the early 2000-s. Equally dangerous is the desire of the United States and its allies to use opposition forces in undesirable countries as a means of violently overthrowing their governments. In this regard, most of Russias actions today are aimed both at strengthening its security in the international arena and at restoring a balanced system of international relations, the key player of which is the United Nations.
