International trade and economic cooperation between Russia and India

International trade and economic cooperation is built on a system of beneficial ties between various countries. It aims to support national economies by connecting markets for goods, services, and technologies. Trade and economic cooperation allows states to strengthen their authority in the international market. Russian-Indian foreign economic partnership has deep historical roots; it began with India's independence and continues today. The current global situation is forcing a reconsideration of previous areas of economic cooperation. Russia is increasingly distancing itself from Western countries, while India is striving to pursue a fully independent foreign and financial policy. Despite the challenges associated with the Ukrainian crisis and the sanctions imposed against Russia, India has chosen a pragmatic approach and continues to build a constructive dialogue with the Russian Federation. All this has influenced the development and strengthening of economic ties between the countries. Both countries are committed to increasing mutual trade and implementing major investment projects. The purpose of this study is to examine the development of trade and economic cooperation between Russia and the Republic of India and to identify prospects for its further development. The main trends in trade development between the countries for 2021-2024 were examined. It was concluded that trade cooperation between Russia and India is currently experiencing rapid growth due to increased supplies of energy, vegetable and animal oils, and fertilizers from Russia to India, as well as equipment and machinery from India to Russia. Further development of cooperation between India and Russia requires continued work on creating a free trade zone, modernizing transport and logistics infrastructure, deepening scientific and technological partnerships, and implementing joint energy projects.
