International tourism in the post-pandemic period: status and prospects

The article discusses issues related to the state and prospects of development of international tourism in the post-pandemic period, as well as in the conditions of strained relations between Russia and the collective West. Based on the analysis of domestic and foreign sources, the authors conclude that the global tourism industry continues to be in a protracted crisis. The paper attempts to identify the reasons that prevent the industry from emerging from the crisis state. One of them, according to the authors, is the course taken by Western states to politicize international tourism and a number of sanctions and discriminatory measures adopted by them against Russia, which directly affect the interests of ordinary Russians. Considering international tourism as a special social and humanitarian activity designed to bring states and peoples closer together, the authors justify the inadmissibility of its politicization and transformation into a means of political pressure of some states on others. The conclusion of the article contains conclusions and proposals that, according to the authors, can contribute to bringing the international tourism industry to the pre-pandemic level.
