The paper deals with the set of public opinion on interethnic relations in both host and migrant communities. Basing on the series of focus groups in the municipalities of the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug - Yugra, the authors analyze the views of different ethnic, age and gender groups upon the problems of the lack of social support, labor market competition and extremism in the context of extensive migration. The research is to shed light upon the attitudes of migrant and host communities towards ethnic discrimination, anti-extremist policies and the role of diasporic structures in public life. The authors argue that public opinion of both communities contains elements reflecting interethnic harmony and probable tensions.
