The article is concerned with the dynamics of educational attainments of a rural family in three generation families (case study of a municipal area of the Republic of Tatarstan, Russia). The results of a social survey conducted by the Family and demography scientific-research center in 2012 are represented. There has been revealed a rising intergenerational educational mobility of rural families that proves an active rural population development. The survey of grandparents, parents and children about the education level of preceding generations helped us to figure out that all generations lack the information about educational attainments of their ancestors. Family background and talks about ancestors are not topical in contemporary families; there is no tradition to hand down a family history from generation to generation. Traditionally, in Russia grandmothers - 40 % of grandmothers - take the leading role in the process of socialisation of their grandchildren including educational socialization. Risks connected with the increase of migration activity of rural people graduated from universities are lower than risks caused by impossibility to provide graduates with job and accommodation.
