The article is devoted to the topic of intergenerational interactions. The purpose of the article is to identify the features of assessing intergenerational interactions as a factor of preserving demographic behavior. One of the pressing problems in the modern Russian Federation is the preservation of traditional family values, which affects the level of marriage and divorce, as well as the average age at the beginning of married life and the birth of children. An important task is to increase the prestige of the family lifestyle among the population. In this context, it is necessary to study modern mechanisms for the formation of family ties and take into account the peculiarities of economic and social relations between different generations, as well as between parents and children, able-bodied and elderly people in various types of families, including the structure of intra-family and interfamily support. The article analyzes the data of a sociological survey conducted by the Center for Family and Demography of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tatarstan. The survey was attended by representatives of the older generation with grandchildren. The purpose of the study was defined as an opportunity to identify the features of the formation of demographic behavior by the older generation and the presence or absence of a relationship between the formed family and reproductive practices of the older generation and their children, as well as to determine the features of the involvement of the older generation in the life formation of their grandchildren. Research area: cities, villages and towns of the Republic of Tatarstan. The period of the study is 2023. The questionnaire was the instrument of the study. The sample is represented by 1100 respondents, it is characterized as representative of the general population, random at the last stage, nesting (according to the criterion of “having grandchildren”). The results of the study were processed using methods of statistical evaluation of empirical data. The results of the study suggest a weak demographic continuity, as well as the absence of well-formed ideas of the older generation regarding family and childbearing, which is largely the result of the influence of society in historical retrospect.
