The introduction of new requirements of federal educational standards enables students to build their educational trajectory. The guarantor of the quality of education is the functional literacy of the student, who must be able to solve educational tasks and navigate in solving life situations based on knowledge obtained by meta-subject and universal methods of activity. The ability to comprehensively apply knowledge from various subject areas is a requirement of the modern world. The article discusses the possibilities of using the method of enlarging didactic units in the study of general concepts and patterns in physics and chemistry. The stages of the methodology of teaching schoolchildren aimed at the formation of functional literacy based on interdisciplinary connections are described.
