Based on an applied sociological study, an assessment of the migration attitudes of first-year students of IT specialties at a technical university is given. It has been established that first-year students have a well-established attitude towards labor migration to foreign countries to work in foreign companies. First-year students consider the unfriendly countries of Europe and North America to be the preferred direction for labor migration. It is shown that such intentions are a serious challenge to the national security of the Russian Federation, since in conditions of a shortage of IT personnel, the departure of specialists abroad poses a threat to the technological development of the country. The steps that will reduce the threat are proposed.
