Microlearning in the context of teaching foreign languages

Nowadays young people studying at higher education institutions belong to Generation Z who think and behave differently, not as previous generations. Thus understanding how they learn and acquire new information is the key to initiating the changes needed in education. The world practice of using microlearning leads to an understanding of the necessity to implement this concept in teaching foreign languages for a new generation of students.in Russia. The article reports about the experience of using microlearning, during which, in order to avoid overloading the working memory, students worked with small portions of educational information at regular intervals. Based on the surveys of students, we can conclude that this approach increased their motivation and engagement in the educational process, and also showed efficiency in consolidating the material and its retention. It concludes that microlearning is a promising area of work in the context of teaching foreign languages in modern conditions.
