Mercifulness and faith: about the activity of medical organizations in the monasteries in Mordvinian region

In the article are examined some aspects of medical activity of the largest monasteries, existing before the revolution in Mordovia region in the pre-revolutionary period as a part of the general problem of the charitable activities of religious organizations. These are the Sanaksar monastery and the Sarov mon-astery. The authors provide the data on the work of health care for the poor from the neighboring settlements. The authors show the raising activity on the development of medical and charitable institutions in the period of preparation for the canonization of St. Seraphim of Sarov.
