Missionary activity of the Altai spiritual mission and the mood of the foreign population of the Black and Gorny Altai on the eve and at the beginning of the First World War

The article comprehensively examines various sources that can be used in the study of the processes of independences of the Altai Mountains in the first quarter of the twentieth century. Special emphasis is placed on the source base of the Civil war period. Archival and statistical funds of several subjects (the Republic of Altai, the Altai territory, the Novosibirsk region, and the Tomsk region) were attracted in large numbers. Of particular interest are materials from the periodical press of the period under review, sources of personal origin: diaries, letters, statements, and complaints.
