Theology of Pavel Florensky, definitely, can be called mystical. The above applies to his conception of the knowledge of God, and to his ideas about deification, and to his theory of cult. At the same time, his thought provokes unconscious associations with the anonymous author of the IV-V centuries, whose writings are known as Corpus Areopagiticum. It is reasonable to assume that the thought of Russian philosopher can be put in parallel with the thought of Pseudo-Dionysius. However, a careful study of the texts shows that in his mystical theology Florensky rather moved away from the conceptions of his distant predecessor than followed the path of apophatic theology laid out by Pseudo-Dionysius.
