Infant mortality in urban and rural areas of Siberian federal district

Aim: to reveal trends and peculiarities of infant mortality formation in urban and rural areas of Siberian Federal District (SFD) in the course of dynamic research. Investigation materials and methods. Extraction of data on the population and structure of population places in SFD from the official state reports has been performed. All available data on the processes of natural population changes is collected and systematized (birth rate, marriage rate, general mortality of population, infant mortality and mortality for neonatal periods). The following research methods have been used in accordance with the aim of this work: analytical, statistical. Results and their discussion. Trend of factor and causes of infant mortality in urban and rural areas of SFD for the 1999-2008 timeframe have been studied. Peculiarities of infant mortality formation are revealed as important indicator of public health in the entities of SFD. Conclusion. Investigation results have validated differences in public health conditions, level of which is usually lower in rural area than in urban area.
