Multilingualism in fictional literature: status, reception and trends

The article deals with the review of the studied aspects and key issues, considering the phenomenon of multilingualism. There are illustrated the scale and propriety of multilingualism in the fictional literature for the provision of the stylistic authenticity and embodiment of the author's point of view. The peculiarities of the reception of the multilingual work by an “ideal reader” and a monolingual reader, whose language boundaries can expand and close while contacting with the other, are described. There are distinguished the specific features the works of the translingual writer.
