As a new form of entertainment, reality show rules the modern world. This modern TV product is the personification of the lack of thinking, judgment and responsibility, something that is superficial, that dulls and creates ignorance with its sensationalism, such as Latin American soap operas or Turkish TV shows, which share a common cliché – banality. The outflow of the deepest intimacy and privacy in a public space vulgarizes man’s everyday life, showing how high is the level of identification and how the so-called tabloid mentality is made. As a suitable mechanism of the new world order, in which the public is all the less informed, and all the more directed and supervised, reality programs appear as a part of the global media trends which are trully governed by corporatism. The fact that banality and corporatism laid in the foundation of fascism only reinforces our belief in the course of the media world. Narcotic dysfunction of mass-media, demonstrated through the form of reality shows, represents a direct assault on mental health: drugging the audience often with light, low-minded and banal content, so that they could stay with the program while imposing serious informational and political content that suits the ruling political elite, in which way the critical thinking and potential action is demobilized and paralyzed.
