In the article the author brings to the conclusion that the Pushkin tragedy "Mozart and Salieri" is a testament to Pushkin's remoteness at the turn of the 1820s-1830s from the Byron's poetry of pride and self-will. The semantic structure of the Pushkin tragedy corresponds to the spirit of Christianity, is consistent with its dictates and commandments, is deeply related to the theories of the 20th century, which meant a personal being as a person's freely responsible involvement in being, associated not only with cares, sorrows, compassion and experience of one's own sinfulness also with joy and cheerfulness of spirit. Thus, a harmony is found between Western European and Russian philosophy of the 20th century and Russian classical literature of the 19th century.
