Modality of the directive speech acts of prohibition in the context of the religious discourse (based on the Russian translation of the Bible)

The article deals with the issues of the modality of the speech acts of prohibition functioning in the religious discourse. There is defined the typology of the religious prohibitions, there are described the kinds of the modality (alethic and deontic) becoming actual in each of the types of the religious prohibitions. The author concludes that the percent of the implementation of the deontic modality is higher in the religious prohibitions that is caused by the didactic character and the hard addressable direction of the religious discourse.
