The review of interim and final court decisions on appeal, being the most common form of appeal both on the territory of continental Europe and the post-Soviet space, is an important criminal procedural tool in ensuring the legality and fairness of criminal procedural activities, eliminating judicial errors. The research conducted in the article on the criminal procedure legislation of a number of countries regulating proceedings in the court of appeal has revealed the difference in the approaches of legislators of the respective countries to determining the procedure, the subject of judicial proceedings, the limits of the rights of the court of appeal, decisions made by the court.
