Models of Implicit Coherence in Modern Domestic Media Texts: Corpus-Discursive Analysis of Phatic Dialogic Speech

Бесплатный доступ

The article examines linguistic and linguopragmatic mechanisms of expressing implicit coherence in phatic question-answer adjacency pairs presented in a set of texts of modern domestic media. The methodology of corpus-discursive analysis of dialogic speech is used. The material of the study is a representative sample of contexts from newspaper corpora in the Russian National Corpus. It is shown that media texts actively present such models of implicit coherence in dialogue as the coordination of remarks according to the illocutionary function; the connection of a remark with the felicity conditions of the preceding speech act, bypassing the content of the utterance; the focus of a remark on the presumption of the preceding utterance; the connection of remarks established on the basis of an appeal to discourse implicatures. The language means of expressing these models are lexical markers of speech interaction – communicatives, interrogative words, particles, interjection expressions, etc., set expressions, various repetitions and periphrases, anaphoric connections, elliptical constructions. It is concluded that the analyzed models of implicit coherence, especially in the cases of deliberate violation of pragmatic consistency of remarks are an effective tool of speech influence, including the one of manipulative character, both for the initiator of the dialogue and for the respondent.
