In the study of the history of metallurgy a key role is assigned to archaeometal-lography. Generalization of archaeometallographic data provides a possibility to piece together the history of metalworking in Eastern Europe. Using a model of technological development, it is possible to understand the totality of three interdependent components, such as the technical or technological stereotype, production traditions and influences adopted from other cultures. The creation of technological models for ironworking makes it possible to shape an idea on the production culture of different East European peoples.
