Modification of cultural tradition in the context of postmodernism

The paper presents the research results related to the modification of cultural traditions in the postmodern era. This issue is relevant to the current state of culture, which is in a search for the basic imperatives that make up its foundation. In these circumstances, the study of the modification of tradition is necessary due to the brevity and irreversibility of the transforming processes while interpreting the essence and meaning of many philosophical concepts, including the concept of tradition. Analyzing the attitude towards tradition in such areas as conservatism, modernism and postmodernism, the author concludes that postmodernism does not deny the existence of the tradition, but transforms its meaning. In the postmodern era, a leading role in understanding of tradition is played by the principle of deconstruction based on the interpretation of culture as text and tradition as a kind of cultural context that can be used to create new cultural styles and genres. Modification of cultural traditions is carried out by the shift in traditional values towards their rhizoming, revision, substitution of innermost content for the game.
