Problem relevance. There is a problem of increase in level of students' knowledge of all forms of training which is especially noticeably shown when studying all-technical disciplines. There are several reasons for this: 1) With the reduction of the total period of students' training (bachelor degree) the number of class periods for special disciplines are preserved at the expense of the reduction of hours for studying of minor disciplines. 2) Such a reduction is basically made at the expense of hours for practical classes. As an illustration the discipline "Electronics and electrical engineering" is given for which practical training hours on many specialties are absent. The work purpose is to improve the quality of students' education by means of a modular educational and methodical manual intended for independent acquisition of the theory and the solution of tasks. The modular principle of the organization of training process in relation to the discipline "Electronics and electrical engineering " is considered. Limits of applicability of single-level linear models of modular programs of training are defined. The need for the development of multilevel modular programs is proved. A three-level model of a modular program of training process with the varied level of competences is offered. Conclusion. Educational and methodical novelty of the work consists in multilevel modular configuration of training material on each subject, which allows to consider both the direction, and concrete specialty of students' training. The practical value of the results. The sequence of modules with the specification levels necessary for obtaining the required competences, defines the route of the educational process which provides the resultant level of competences necessary for this specialty. Data on introduction in the educational process. The first part of a modular educational and methodical manual under the name: "Electrical equipment. Collection of tasks and exercises. Electric chains" is introduced in the educational process in SAMGTU. Approbation in the educational process for three years has yielded the following results: 1) Increase in students' interest in studying of electrical equipment which results in their active participation in the general electrical equipment Olympiad in which they take prizes. 2) Increase in level of knowledge and progress on electrical equipment which results in successful tests and examinations (the number of resitting of tests and re-examinations has decreased). 3) Successful and independent performance of calculation and graphic works on electrical equipment which is noticeable in their answers to questions at defence of calculation and graphic works.
