Summary This work is devoted to a new direction in radiation genetics - radiogenomics, the main purpose of which is to study molecular genetic markers responsible for the development of radiation reactions and damage in patients undergoing radiation therapy. Molecular mechanisms that are activated in the cell in response to ionizing radiation and affecting the development of side effects are described. The main approaches, significant for today results and problems of radiogenomic studies are presented.
