The article presents the relevance of the problem of bovine parainfluenza-3 (PG-3) for the veterinary service, including the prevalence of the pathogen in different regions of the Russian Federation. The degree of studying the question of PG-3 genotyping of cattle in the world is shown. Prospects of molecular genetic analysis of the virus genomes with the purpose of its more precise identification and development of corresponding vaccines with improved immunogenic properties were demonstrated. The authors were the first in the Russian Federation to carry out genotyping of bovine PG-3 virus in cattle farms of the Republic of Tatarstan.
