The State Song and Dance Theatre «Baikal» became a winner of All-Russian contest «Everybody dances!» in 2017. By its musical choreographic compositions the theatre steadily raised its performing level and the victory was a natural result of the research and creative search of Dandar Badluev, the director, Honored Art Worker of the Russian Federation, and Zhargal Zhalsanov, artistic director, Peoples’ Artist of the Republic of Buryatia. This article refers to the performances of the State Song and Dance Theatre «Baikal» appealing to the genetic memory of the Buryat people. Colorful theatrical concerts-shows: “Echo of the country Bargudzhin-Tokum”, “Myths and legends of Lake Baikal” and “From Mongols to Mogols” were conceived and embodied in the form of large-scale epic canvases with dance, vocal, instrumental episodes in solo and collective performance, where the choreography is an expression of the effective beginning, while singing conveys the mental state of the characters. They immerse the spectator into the creative laboratory of the performers seeking to recreate the deep antiquity in life of the largest Central Asian ethnic group in the country. The magnificent scenic design and historical costumes complement the sense of authenticity and staginess in their perception by the public.
