Having appeared all-Russian chronicle in the 15th century, in the historiography of the Church History dominates the a priori view of the monopoly of a certain church authority on church affairs, and in Russian Church History dominates the historical monopoly of the Kiev Metropolis of the Patriarchate of Constantinople, and then of the autocephalic Moscow Metropolis (Patriarchate) in ecclesiastical life of the Old Russia. In modern science monopoly is considered solely as an economic phenomenon. It seems strange that the concept of monopoly does not find application in philosophical discourse or in historical context. The Church initially perceived itself as a natural monopoly in the “confessional market”. And it is precisely this model that best explains the Russian church-state relations of the 15th - 17th centuries. The struggle of the state against such monopolism was inevitable.
