Morphological characteristics of ceramics of the eastern variant of the pakhomovo culture (based on materials from the Ob-Irtysh interfluves)

The results of the morphological analysis of the pottery of the eastern variant of the Pakhomovo culture using different methods are provided. When using the method for determining the general proportionality, it was found that some of the products belong to “emulation ceramics”. The skills of shaping ceramics of these potters have not yet matched the ideas of the traditional form of ceramics that existed in the ancient culture. When analyzing charts of correlations of the main proportions of the vessels, it was revealed that some proportions change linearly, while others are disproportionate. It was determined that vessels of various sizes and assortments were used in funeral practice. Comparison of the profiles and “skeletons” of the vessels, brought to a single scale of 10 cm, indicates the absence of a reference form. The direction of changes in the proportions of the shape of the ceramics occurred in all directions. The data obtained allow us to conclude that there is no strict tradition of creating ceramics of a certain shape. Comparison of the results with previously obtained data from other sites (Stary Sad, Grishkina Zaimka) demonstrates both the general similarity of the formation models and the differences. The collection of tableware from Stary Sad is characterized by the presence of an “ideal” model of the form of ceramics. This may suggest a relatively short period of the existence of this archaeological site, when the traditions of shaping ceramics did not have time to divide, but remained in a syncretic state. This indicates the presence of a chronological difference between the analyzed sites and/or the peculiarities of the development of pottery technology in different groups of the eastern variant of the Pakhomovo culture. These groups of the population, coming to different new territories, interacted with the population of local cultures, which was reflected in the diversity of the morphology of the dishes.
