The article examines the motive of a miraculous birth in the Xinjiang-Oirat version of the epic “Dzhangar”. The research material was the texts of songs of the Xinjiang-Oirat epic tradition “Dzhangara”, published in China in the Oirat script “todo bichig” (“clear writing”), translated into the Kalmyk language by the famous orientalist B.Kh. Todaeva, as well as Oirat texts published by Professor T. Jamtso. Consideration of the motive of a miraculous birth in the Oirat version of the epic “Dzhangar” showed that this motive is based on the exclusivity of the events accompanying the birth of a miraculous baby: 1) the prophecy of Uzyung Khan’s father-in-law Gyurtem Tsetsen Khan that after five years of a happy married life, trouble will happen, is being accomplished; 2) the Fierce Shara Mangas, who attacked the Uzyunga Khanate, kills the parents, leaving only the miraculously born baby, hidden in a cave, alive; 3) Shigshirgi finds the orphaned baby and his foal and takes him home, gives the orphan a name; 4) the yoryal wish, pronounced during the naming of the miraculously born hero, was a magical blessing and a prediction of his future heroic path. The motif of a miraculous birth in the Oirat songs examined reveals archaic elements: a child emerges from the mother’s womb in the amniotic sac; the baby’s ability to speak in the womb; Bagshi the fortuneteller predicts a great future for the baby and pronounces a magical wish; the birth of a child in a “shirt” was an omen of a heroic future and determined his isolation; the relationship between the miraculously born baby and the cosmic sky; fast growth; naming the hero a heroic name; Possession of physical strength and magical invulnerability. The miraculously born hero of the archaic epic, who is the keeper of the hearth and the protector of the clantribe, the owner of countless herds and vast nomads of his father, is transformed into the central image of the heroic epic “Dzhangar”, the ruler of the Bombay country, establishing his heroic name with heroic deeds.
