The article delves into the problem of finding ways to build a balanced approach to the motivation system of project teams. The structure of a balanced motivational system for project personnel is typically examined from a material perspective and represents a complex algorithm for calculating the reward system for project participants, taking into account the temporal and substantive characteristics of the project as well as the number of critical milestones involved. This study analyzes the distinctive features of motivating project teams, which are associated with the specific nature of their formation and the organization of activities aimed at project implementation. Two groups of features are identified: the first is related to the specifics of the project activity itself, the second is directly related to the project staff, whose employment is limited by the time the project is completed. The identified features make it possible to formulate the necessary conditions for building a modern, balanced, effective motivation system for project personnel and thereby expand the boundaries of balance problem research beyond the search for the optimal combination of tools of material and non-material motivation.
