Motivation of students to study at the university

Higher education provides much higher rates of employment of graduates in comparison with education at other levels and contributes to the economic activity of young people. Despite the significant coverage of the population in education, Russia does not receive the proper socio-economic effect from the participation of the population in education. This is due to the presence of system problems. The education received by the population is relatively short and of insufficient quality. The quality of education has a downward trend, employers are not satisfied with the training of young professionals, the structure of training does not correspond quantitatively and qualitatively to the structure of the Russian economy. This determines the relevance of the problem of students ' motivation to study at the university. The article presents the results of cross-country comparisons of the proportion of the population with tertiary education, determines the factors of students' motivation to study at the university, its significance in the educational process, methods of motivating students to study, the results of a study of the educational motivation of students of the K.E. Tsiolkovsky KSU on the basis of a selective method.
