Personal motives and values of women candidates for adoptive parents

The article deals with the phenomenon of adoption. The author substantiates the relevance of studying the basic psychological characteristics of successful foster parent in the modern society. The methodology and the procedure of the empirical research are described. To carry out a maximum effective research of adoption motivation the author used an original questionnaire. On the basis of the undertaken analysis the research compiled the image of a successful adoptive parent. At the same time the paper considers the image of a mother raising two children with the focus on the dominant motivation of adoption as a potential foster parent. The author discusses significant differences between the basic psychological features of foster and birth mothers.
