The author of the article compares the expression of the motive “exile” in Nabokov's publicistic and literary discourse in the aspect of associative-semantic analysis. The motive of an exile runs through the most of the topics reflected in the works of Nabokov, and also the artistic problems of the emigrant’s being implemented in many of Nabokov's texts. The concepts (“exile”, “immigrants”), which receive individual expression in the prose and journalism of the writer and disclosed through the array of associative definitions are concidered. The author concludes that the specific figurative representations and their individual expression in Nabokov’s idiostile and conceptual system help to study the linguistic structure of the text, the writer's poetic world and the social and creative identity problems associated with it.
