MRI as a basis of diagnostics of vertebral-basilar pool strokes

Clinical-neurological and MR-tomographic data of 153 patients with vertebral-basilar pool (VBP) strokes was analysed. Тhe key role of MRI in their detection was determined. MRI data made it possible to create a VBP strokes classification rubrification of high practical significance as it regards lesion focus localization, pathogenetic type of a stroke and the stage of the disease. Comparison of clinical-neurological and MR-tomographic data demonstrated insufficiency of clinical-neurological examination results and the necessity of MRI-examination in diagnostics of VBP strokes.
