Kazan museums on the "red tourism" market

In recent years, the Russian tourism experiences some difficulties. Sanctions measures, exchange rate instability have led to a marked reduction in outbound and inbound tourism. It is necessary to look for new tourist markets, identify new partners. China has currently the fastest growing and highly receptive tourism market. One of the most promising areas may be the creation of routes for "Red Tourism" in Russia. It was originally developed as a visiting by Chinese places of revolutionary and military glory in the country, and as a strengthening communist ideology among the population through tourism. In 2010-ies "Red tourism" has acquired an international character. Chinese tour operators begun to include foreign countries in "Red tourism" routes, such as Russia, Vietnam and North Korea. In Russia a number of routes were appeared, through which Chinese tourists traveled to the places associated with the revolutionary movement and the victory of socialism in the USSR. Memorial and other museums have become important tourism resources on these routes. Kazan is one of the cities included in these routes. The article discusses about the level of scrutiny of "Red Tourism", different approaches to it. The authors study Kazan museums, which are the prime attractions, namely V.I. Lenin Museum, Kazan University History Museum, Soviet lifestyle Museum. The article reveals resources of these museums, and the influences of "Red Tourism" on their excursion and methodical activity.
