The article researches Evgeny Petrov's screenwriting. The author proves thematic relations between the screenplays “Musical Story”, “Anton Ivanovich is Angry”, “Quiet Ukrainian Night” and “Air Carrier”. The analysis shows that the musical theme in particular consolidates the most of E.Petrov's scripts, where the main characters are people of the musical background (composers, singers, etc.). Despite the fact that in the majority of cases they are “artists of the people” Petrov creates the “living” images and avoids “poster” description with the help of vaudeville masks and plot device. With all external conflict's simplicity the playwriter upholds the right to all genres of music and proves the need of interaction of traditional and innovative approaches when creating a piece of musical and - broadly speaking - any art work.
