The thoughts of the philanthropist of the late XIX - early XX century Shakir Ramiyev about the benefits from various sources, enlightenment and eternity

The brothers Muhammadshakir (Shakir) and Muhammadzakir (Zakir) Ramiyev, Orenburg merchants of the first guild, rich gold industrialists, were widely known among the Tatar philanthropists of the late XIX -early XX century, engaged in educational activities. Shakir Ramiev, the eldest of the brothers, was led to enlightenment by an outstanding personality, encyclopedic knowledge and interest in many sciences. The purpose of the research is to study the educational activities of Sh. Ramiev, who was one of the first to conduct enlightenment among the Tatars of Russia. The materials for the study were the memoirs of Sh. Ramiev's associates, workers of his printing house, poets and writers of the late XIX - early XX century. Sh. Ramiev's multilateral educational activities are revealed in the paper: he participated in the reform of Tatar writing; developed the publishing business; founded his own printing house; organized the publication of the newspaper “Vakyt” (“Time”) and then the magazine “Shura” (“Council”), fiction and scientific literature in the Tatar language; built mosques; opened madrasahs and new-method schools for rural children; taught young people in Islamic and Russian educational institutions at his own expense. The authors propose to study the educational activities of Sh. Ramiev in the course “History of Pedagogy and Education” in pedagogical educational institutions in order to educate the younger generation.
