The article examines the interconnection among different political and economic factors accounting for the degree of security of Russia’s statehood from external and internal threats at the current stage of its development. The focus is made on the interrelation between political and technological factors, as well as on the assessment of its role in the national security system. Attention is paid to the views of the modern Russian state on national security in relation to science and technologies. The widespread adoption of digital technologies in Russia’s economy leads to a variety of complex changes in the political sphere and in the system of political relations in society. In particular, this entails changes in the forms and models of political interaction. Naturally and logically, with the old threats to Russia’s national security changing and the new ones arising, the counteraction to these threats over the first decades of the 21st century has become a vital task of the Russian state. The author argues that Russia’s scientific and technological development is a form of reaction to the challenges and threats to its national security, which, particularly, requires further legal regulation of the state’s activities in the area of Russia’s national security.
