The article explores the national and cultural features of the nomination of socially significant diseases using the example of precedent texts of the Russian and Serbian languages. For the study, 300 anecdotes from Russian and Serbian linguistic cultures were selected using a targeted sampling method, covering topics of health, socially sig-nificant diseases and medicine, considered as precedent texts and reflecting the peculiarities of cultural mentality. The results reflect the following features: in Russian linguoculture, jokes about addictions, sexually transmitted diseases, and cardiovascular and mental illnesses are common, employing stylistic means such as satire, irony, sarcasm, and wordplay. In Serbian linguoculture, the thematic groups are similar to those in Russian linguoculture, but the comic effect is achieved through the use of obscene vocabulary, euphemisms, vulgarisms, and jargon.
