Directions of lexical and word-formation work in primary schools

The article reveals the main directions of lexical and word-formation work in Russian language lessons in elementary grades. The difficulties of assimilation of morphemic and word-formation material by younger schoolchildren are noted, and ways of overcoming them through a system of lexical and word-formation exercises are proposed. Examples of exercises for mastering the method of word-formation interpretation of the meaning of a derived word, exercises with words of different lexico-semantic groups on word-formation material (including on the material of word-formation nests), etc. are given.
