The article analyzes the aspects of socio-cultural adaptation of Indian students using the example of Petrozavodsk State University. The relevance of the study is due to the growing number of Indian students in the Russian universities, the need to develop effective adaptation programs, the importance of intercultural interaction and psychological comfort of students. Key aspects of cultural identity, value orientations and behavioral strategies of this category of students are analyzed. The article presents the experience of educational work of the Department of Foreign Languages and Russian as a Foreign Language of the A. P. Zilber Medical Institute of Petrozavodsk State University. Special attention is paid to effective adaptation technologies, volunteer student organizations and clubs, project activities to create a comfortable multi-campus environment. A set of adaptation measures developed by the staff of Russian as a foreign language department and volunteer students allows foreign students successfully adapt to the conditions of the educational environment of Russia. The results of the study are of practical value for the development of programs of pedagogical support for foreign students in Russian universities.
