The analysis of pedagogical heritage of K. N. Wentzel in the context of theoretical scheme of transmitting, generating and transformating pedagogy, suggested by G. B. Kornetov, allows us to generalize and conceptualize ideas of the great humanist from the point of view of understanding as the role and the place of a child in the processes of his education, upbringing, learning and attitude to his cognitive, creative activity, independence in the pedagogical process as well. Then wider, in the space of educational environment. In his works, K. N. Ventzel appears as a consistent supporter of generating and transforming pedagogy and as an implacable opponent of pedagogy transmitting, though he doesn’t use these terms himself.
