The aim of the study: to evaluate the natriuretic and hypotensive effects of diuver in sodium-retaining and sodium-non- retaining patients with arterial hypertension (AH). Fifty patients with hypertension of 2nd and 3rd degree without signs of congestive heart failure and chronic renal failure were examined. General clinical examination was performed to rule out the abnormal kidney function. To identify sodium-retaining patients with hypertension, the daily excretion of sodium in the urine was determined and the test with the salt load was carried out. Test with the diuver was performed to study the effectiveness of the diuretics in patients with AH. According to the examination results, all patients were divided into the groups of sodium-retaining and sodium-non-retaining patients. Data showed that individuals who always added salt to cooked food dominated among the sodium-retaining patients. In this group of patients, we observed statically smaller increase of diuresis and natriuresis upon administration of test with loop diuretic compared to the group of sodium-non-retaining patients. Significant decrease in arterial blood pressure (ABP) was registered among the sodium-non-retaining patients when they received diuver. According to our data, only sodium-non-retaining patients had statistically significant decrease in both systolic and diastolic ABP during the diuretic test. Among sodium-retaining patients dominated those who always added slat to already cooked food.
