This paper is devoted to the literary work of M. Vagatova, the author of Khanty poetry and fairy tales in the Russian and Khanty languages. The object of the study is the poetic works and metaphorical schemes that the writer uses when revealing the concept of “woman”. The authors believe that as a result of studying the typical linguistic representation of this concept in the language worldview of the Ob Ugrians (using the case study of Khanty poetry) by analyzing the linguistic material presented in the poetry of M. Vagatova, a number of conclusions can be drawn that give an idea of a woman in the linguistic world of the Khanty, as well as to identify the metaphorical schemes present in the mindsets. This study considers only naturomorphic metaphors that convey the meaning of the concept “woman” in the works of this author. The material of the study was the works of M. Vagatova in the poetic form from the collections “Little Tundra Man”, “My Song, My Song”, “The Heart Sings”. In the process of working on the chosen topic, the language material was selected and analyzed using the method of observing linguistic facts, the method of continuous sampling of language material, the method of discursive analysis, elements of interpretive and contextual analyses. The practical significance of the work is of value to researchers involved in Finno-Ugric studies or studying the peculiarities of the individual style of the writer. The novelty of the study lies in the fact that, despite the fact that earlier this concept and its representation in the linguistic consciousness of the Khanty were partially studied on the material of the texts of M. Vagatova, E. Aipin, E. Mazin, the metaphorical schemes that determine the worldview of the Khanty during the actualization of this concept, have not been identified.
