Research activities as a principal activity of postgraduates

Introduction: The article is analyzed the problem of low quality of dissertations in the field of jurisprudence. Purpose: to identify the role of research activity in the formation postgraduates of legal specialties. Methods: the study is used a general scientific and private-scientific methods: dialectical, formal-legal, linguistic. Results: It is proved that the changes in the law on education should not be interpreted as a reduction in the requirements for a graduate student to implement their research activities in the framework of post-graduate training. It is noted that graduate students enrolled in the legal profession, mainly acquire the skills professional and not scientific knowledge, which leads to a reduction in the quality of dissertation research. It is considered institutional reforms in science and education that contribute to the creation of the scientific environment in universities. Conclusions: it was concluded that graduate students of legal specialties are formed more in the professional than in the scientific community. It is necessary to enhance the role of research activities in the field of training of graduate students.
