Scientific and theoretical basis of forensic psychological assessment of validity of testimony in the Federal Republic of Germany

Introduction. The present article aims to reveal some scientific and theoretical aspects of forensic psychological assessment of the validity of testimony in the Federal Republic of Germany. Materials, Results and Discussion. The paper comprises the conclusions of the German psychologists K. Fiedler and J. Schmid, justifying the admissibility of the inductive-statistical model of explanation within the framework of a forensic psychological examination of the validity of testimony and relied upon by the Federal Supreme Court in judgement No. BGH 1 Str. 618/98.
