Scientific Symposium on economic history at the Zagorsk Optical and Mechanical Plant: using the potential of history in shaping corporate culture

Introduction. The relevance of the research is primarily related to the need to improve the practice of social management in large companies. Generalization of the experience of corporate culture formation at individual large enterprises in the dynamically changing environment of the modern economic space makes it possible to improve management strategies and quickly adapt to new conditions, which is not only the key to business success, but also an important factor in its viability. The past, which is the foundation of corporate culture, allows us to reflect the values, traditions and standards of behavior that have been formed since the founding of the organization. Studying and preserving this context helps to convey the company’s identity, strengthen team spirit, and form a common understanding of the organization’s mission and goals. Materials and Methods. The article is devoted to the analysis of the experience of interaction between science and industry in the context of accelerated modernization of the country’s economy. It is based on the materials of the scientific symposium on economic history “Wars and the scientific and technological factor in the economic history of Russia: on the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War; on the 90th anniversary of the Zagorsky Optical and Mechanical Plant”. The symposium was organized by the Scientific Council on Economic History of the Russian Academy of Sciences and the Directorate of the Zagorsky Optical and Mechanical Plant (Sergiev Posad, October 3–4, 2025). It became a platform for exchanging views on the results of studying the issues of coordinating the interaction of science and industry in order to promote the overall recovery of the country’s economy in the interests of strengthening its defense capability. The study used both special and general scientific methods of analysis. The traditional principles of historicism, objectivity, and consistency have allowed for a full, comprehensive, and in-depth consideration of the topic under study. Discussion and Conclusion. The scientific symposium on economic history at the Zagorsk Optical and Mechanical Plant played an important role in updating the problems of corporate culture formation. It is necessary to hold such conferences, since current trends in economic development, ongoing socio-cultural changes, as well as new trends in Russian historical science require the activation and consolidation of the activities of scientists, entrepreneurs, public and political leaders in the field of studying and preserving the historical past as the foundation of public consciousness of Russians.
