The article reviews the names for ancient stone tools of prehistoric man in the Altai languages. The most ancient tools, made of stone and used in the stone age, are a stone knife, a stone ax, a saw and a spear. These names are compared at the level of their reconstructed urforms in parent Turkic, Mongolian, and Tungus languages. In the prehistoric era ancestors of the Turks had no language connections with the ancestors of the Mongols and Tungus, and vice versa, parent Mongolian and Tungus names for stone knives and axes, saws and spears, as well as the oldest dogs were common in origin, while bow and arrows were invented by the Altai people apart.
