The article reviews six complex words denoting the names of the military ranks of the Manchu army, containing the main component eǰen ('host, chief). All dependent components of the names are decorated with indicators of the genitive case. Two borrowings from the Manchu language are represented in these complex words: ǰalan 'regiment' and meyiren 'flank'. The names of military units sumun 'company', ǰalan 'regiment', qosiγu 'banner' are formed by means of the lexico-semantic method of word formation. The material for the study was the written monument "True Records about the Mongols of the Qing Empire", published in 2013 in the old Mongolian language in the city of Hohhot, the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region of China. This work was based on the Mongolian version of the "True Records of the Qing Dynasty", which is stored in the historical archive No. 1 of Beijing. The study of this layer of vocabulary has not only historical and lexicological, but also cultural significance as a reflection of the development of spiritual culture of the 17th century Mongols, the history of social and economic relations in society.
