NBICS convergence: from a functional aggregator to a philosophical phenomenon

The author examines a set of issues related to the features of the NBICS-convergence study. The emphasis is placed on the convergence acting as a functional aggregator, its synergetic properties, as well as the ability of subsystems to function as an appropriate technology (for example, nanotechnology, information technology). The functional aggregator generally focuses on the unified system support for the efficient operation of NBICS convergence. Besides, the paper presents the possibilities of NBICS convergence from the standpoint of a philosophical phenomenon based on fundamental emergent properties. Each of the convergent elements is manifested as a component that is methodologically aimed at providing effective interaction.
