Urinary incontinence is actual due to medical and social reasons, leading to the deterioration of the patients’ quality of life and complicating a free being in the society. Incontinence is the involuntary urine leakage through the meatus. It could be related to ureter ectopy, bladder extrophy, vesico-vaginal fistula or to neurogenic conditions, and also appears as complication of radical prostatectomy or transurethral resection due to a sphincter damage. This review contains the modern evidence to post-prostatectomy incontinence. Important role in the continence is played by the sphincter complex, namely proximal and distal urethral sphincters. One of these functional parts is lost during the prostatectomy. Surgical experience and technical issues are of crucial importance for outcomes. Anamnesis and physical investigation before the operation could give clues to prognosis of incontinence after operation. Postoperatively, the early rehabilitation is necessary. which albeit could not prevent the incontinence, could decrease its severity. Additional treatment could be necessary dependent on incontinence severity.
